The workshop addressed several key themes, as follows:
- Dr. Amaj Ali Qadir delivered a lecture on the concept of university rankings, their importance, and the major international ranking institutions, particularly QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education (THE). He explained the criteria which were adopted by these institutions and highlighted the differences between them, noting that Salahaddin University–Erbil is currently listed in the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking.
- Asst. Lecturer. Parez Sabah Hussein reviewed the position of Salahaddin University–Erbil within the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking, outlining the most important steps required to improve the university’s ranking and achieve more advanced positions.
- Dr. Naima Kamal Ali emphasized the central role of scientific research in enhancing a university’s ranking through strengthening high-quality scholarly research. She focused on the importance of interdisciplinary research, asking faculty members to adopt this approach by integrating law with other scientific disciplines.
- Dr. Shahla Ali Ahmed discussed the main duties of the Ranking Committee in the College of Law, which include monitoring and implementing university ranking criteria at the college level, and preparing periodic and monthly reports on the performance of the college and its faculty members. These reports cover matters such as lecture attendance, organization of seminars and workshops, and participation in scientific conferences.
